HEALING SERVICE - Sunday, October 20th | 3:00 PM
The healing service is not just for those who are seeking relief from physical pain but any kind of hurts one has in life - emotional, spiritual, mental, etc. Its about healing relationships and even past hurts. Sometimes the healing that is needed may not be something we've thought about for a while or even at all! It is about recognizing that Jesus is alive, and that He desires us to be free. Of course, we must always pray with the Lord's Prayer in our hearts- we surrender everything to His good will, and we remain confident that whatever the outcome will be, we trust that God is good and desires only our eternal salvation. Nevertheless, Jesus encourages us to ask, seek, and knock and to confide in Him.
Sometimes in His mercy, He grants precisely what we seek; other times, also in His mercy, He blesses us through ways that are not so obvious and even challenging.
The healing service will begin with Eucharistic Adoration, giving us an opportunity to offer praise and worship to our God, completely and wholly present in the Holy Eucharist. There will be time for individual prayer with prayer teams. Fellow Catholics, please be sure to attend Holy Mass this weekend. A service does not fulfill the Sunday obligation.
As we prepare for the Healing Service, please offer the following novena to St. Raphael the Archangel. The novena starts this Friday, October 11th.
Glorious Archangel Saint Raphael,
great prince of the heavenly court,
you are illustrious
for your gifts of wisdom and grace.
You are a guide of those who journey
by land or sea or air,
consoler of the afflicted,
and refuge of sinners.
I beg you,
assist me in all my needs
and in all the sufferings of this life,
as once you helped
the young Tobias on his travels.
Because you are the medicine of God,
I humbly pray you to heal the many infirmities
of my soul and the ills that afflict my body.
I especially ask of you the favour
(Make your request here...)
and the great grace of purity
to prepare me to be the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
St. Raphael,
of the glorious seven
who stand before the throne of Him
who lives and reigns,
Angel of health,
the Lord has filled your hand
with balm from heaven
to soothe or cure our pains.
Heal or cure the victim of disease.
And guide our steps when doubtful of our ways.
