Symbolon // Trailer from Formed on Vimeo.

What is Symbolon?
Maybe you have been a Catholic all your life or you are curious as to what this faith is all about or even what it truly believes in. We can always learn more about the Catholic faith because it springs from an abundantly rich tradition, spanning from the time of Jesus Christ to the present.

Symbolon takes us on an in-depth journey that explores many of the essentials of the Catholic Faith. The course is run over a period of ten weeks. We will look at what faith is all about, the existence of divine revelation, why you and I need Jesus, why the Church exists, why Mary and the communion of saints are important in our lives, and much more. It is an opportunity for all to come to know the Catholic faith more deeply.

For those who participated in Alpha, this course will serve to deepen your faith even more!

A Light Meal

Everybody needs to eat! Food gives us an opportunity to come together and build relationships.

Teaching

Video presentations will help guide us to a greater understanding of the Catholic faith. They can engage us and inspire conversation.  They will give us a deeper insight in some of the basic tenants of the Catholic Christian faith!

Each of us will be given a chance to grow in our own personal understanding of the teaching and how relevant it can be in our every day lives.

Who is Symbolon for?

Symbolon is for those who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. While it takes a look at the basic tenets of the Catholic faith, even individuals who have been Catholic since the day they were born can benefit from these in-depth teachings. For those who took part in the Alpha course, this will supplement what you have learned and take your understanding of the faith to a whole new level.

Symbolon takes us by the hand to grow deeper in our understanding of the Catholic faith. The course meets once a week for 10 weeks. Each evening, people will have the opportunity to enjoy some great food, fellowship and learning about the teachings of Jesus.

When is this happening at St. Michael?

The first series of Symbolon entitled "Knowing the Faith" took place on Tuesday evenings beginning January 10 to March 14 of 2017 in the St. Michael Gymnasium.

What if I will be unable to make one of the evenings?

We will explain how to make them up rather easily on the first night.

What should I expect on a typical night for Symbolon?

Generally the night will include the following:
  • Food, refreshments, fellowship
  • Introduction & Prayer before the teaching
  • Short teaching presented by the Symbolon team
  • Coffee break
  • Time for discussion in small groups
