Please support our parish by giving through the Catholic Services Appeal. This short video (less than 5 min) illustrates some of the ways that CSA impacts our Archdiocese! *CSA > Christmas > Offertory* CSA + 100% back to us Christmas + 100% back to us - Contribute toward an increase in CSA calculation for next year - Not making CSA, offertory will have to pay for it Offertory - Percentage goes to archdiocese - Contribute toward an increase in CSA calculation for next year - Not making CSA, offertory will have to pay for it |
As stated in the CSA letter and in the bulletin:
If you want 100% of your donations to benefit our parish, please offer it through CSA. CSA actually helps people, more than the stories in the video. *For those concerned about us meeting operating expenses: The overage, after CSA has been collected, will be given back to our parish in installments. So, we should be fine to meet those expenses. I don't imagine (nor expect) everyone will be doing this, but hopefully you can see what I am trying to present. Thank you. |

In case you missed the video this past weekend, here's the message from Archbishop Vigneron.
Unleash the Gospel - The New Evangelization is unfolding and breathing new life into the Church in Detroit.Unleash the Gospel is a major push to change the DNA of the Church in Detroit to one of a Body of Christ on mission. What we are attempting is nothing less than a radical overhaul of the Church in Detroit, a complete reversal of our focus from inward, or maintenance-focused, to outward, or mission-focused.
We seek to bring about this change first in our hearts, through an encounter with Christ. Then in our homes as we grow in our faith. And finally in our culture as we become a witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. |

Why Now?
There is a need to elevate the presence and importance of Christ in individuals, families, parishes, schools, and Catholic institutions to receive the good news, to live it, and to share it with our friends, our families, in our workplaces and beyond.
The natural state of the Church is one of growth. We are living in a time of unnatural deterioration of the Church. The decline in sacramental participation and vocations as well as the closing of parishes are unnatural aberrations rooted in an erosion of evangelization. We need to undo some of what we've become as a people of Christ – passive in prioritizing and living our faith, sad about the perceived decline of the importance of Jesus and Church institutions, and accustomed to a malaise rooted in believing there is little that can be done.
Just as we are seeing revitalization in our city, we seek to bring about rebirth of the Church in Detroit.

Check out the performance by the Notre Dame Choirs who visited us in November for the feast of Christ the King!
The Celebration Choir is an ensemble that performs many service-oriented concerts and liturgies. Music ranges from classical hymns and traditional liturgical music to gospel/spirituals and contemporary Catholic repertoire, incorporating strings, flute, guitar, the Irish bodhran, organ, piano and the African djembe.
The Handbell Choir is comprised of 15 students ringing five octaves of English-styled Schulmerich handbells. They not only play solo repertoire but on special arrangements of hymnody and Mass parts. Both choirs are directed by Karen Schneider Kirner. For more information about these choirs, visit: Celebration Choir: www.celchoir.wix.com/celebration-choir Handbell Choir: www3.nd.edu/~handbell/ |
