Who are we?
We are the newest Catholic youth movement in the city of Monroe. We are working together with the three local Catholic parishes of St. Michael the Archangel, St. John the Baptist, and St. Mary. This is for all high school aged teens who want to see what the Catholic faith is all about - to ask questions, get together, do some good, and fully live out our identity as redeemed daughters and sons of our Heavenly Father.
While we don't have a place exclusively to call our own yet, we are thankful for St. Mary Catholic Central for providing us with space to come together and meet. We do so every Sunday at 6:00 pm. If you're a high school aged teen and want to join us, stop by sometime! If you park by St. Mary church, you can walk over to St. Mary Catholic Central and walk down the ramp closest to the church and rectory office (the entrance is directly opposite of the church rectory).
Why the name ΩMEGA Life Teen?
The name ΩMEGA Life Teen came from our teen leaders.
At the end of January 2017, we began with a program called ALPHA. It's Greek for "beginning." It was a starting point by which people can come to encounter Jesus Christ. One of the teens said, “It’s too bad we couldn’t use Ωmega (meaning "the end") for the name.” The reason for this thought was inspired by Revelation 22:13 which reads, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." From then on, the identity of our ministry was fashioned. We used it as an acronym:
Ωur • Mission: • Evangelizing • God’s • Agape (Sacrifical Love)
What about Life Teen?
It's a program that came out of Franciscan University of Steubenville. It focuses on the greatest thing that God has to offer us: the Eucharist - the very Body and Blood of Jesus. Jesus said, "Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me" (Jn 6:26-69).
As a Eucharist-centered movement within the Roman Catholic Church, Life Teen leads teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. With the Blessed Virgin Mary as our intercessor and guide, Life Teen seeks to unleash the fullness of the Sacramental power present within the young Church.
Our first Ωmega Life Teen gathering took place on May 7th, starting with food and fellowship.
